Overview
Thank you for your interest in the 4-Year Adult Training Program at NIP!
For training beginning in fall 2025, classes will take place on Mondays at NIP at 6:00 pm and 7:45 pm, and on Wednesdays via Zoom at 6:00 pm.
The online application form will be available here in March 2025. The application deadline is June 1.
Applications are reviewed as they are completed, followed by interviews, on a rolling basis from March through June. Admissions decisions are generally complete and communicated by June 30.
An early acceptance process, with admissions decisions communicated in early May, is available to NIP social work and psychology interns, candidates in the One-Year Evening Program, and candidates in the Preliminary Year of the License Qualifying Program. The application deadline for this process is April 8.
Please note: A maximum of 14 applicants are admitted to this program each year. In selecting the members of each cohort, we strive for a mix of candidates from traditional pathways to psychoanalytic practice (e.g., psychiatry, psychology, and social work) and newer mental health practices (e.g., creative arts therapy) with candidates from our License Qualifying Program, who bring perspectives from a wide variety of disciplines beyond the mental health field.
General Admission Criteria
Licensed mental health professionals (including social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and mental health nurses)
Licensed professionals in mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, and creative arts therapy who have appropriate clinical experience
Graduates of social work master’s programs working toward their LMSW
Candidates in the Preliminary Year of NIP's License Qualifying Program
