Membership Types

Full Membership is open to NIP trustees, board members, program directors, faculty, supervisors, advisors, and alumni of the Four-Year Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, the Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity, the National Training Program, the Three Year Child & Adolescent Program or the Kansas City Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.

Members in this category are licensed mental health professionals (LP, LMSW, LCSW, LCAT, LMHC, PhD, MD, MSN, etc) who have successfully completed an intensive training program at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies.  They are licensed in their respective fields at the level of independent practitioner by the State of New York or other recognized municipalities.  Full members are required to maintain current malpractice insurance, are eligible for third party reimbursement, and qualify for inclusion on managed care provider panels.  From time to time, full membership is offered to other individuals in recognition of their contribution to the Institute.

Associate Membership is open to those professionals who are alumni of one of the other NIP programs (One Year Evening, Child and Adolescent, Psychotherapy Integration Program  or Trauma), or individuals currently enrolled in any of the Institute's academic or clinical training programs. Associate members receive the same benefits as Full members except that they may not vote in Executive Council elections or hold office on the Council. Associate members are required to maintain current malpractice insurance if licensed in their discipline.  From time to time, Associate membership is offered to other individuals at the discretion of the Executive Council.
